Ms Nollaig Sheehan, Transition Year Co-Ordinator and her students have been very busy over the past weeks with lots of planning and preparation for the year ahead. In keeping with the Catholic ethos of St Augustine’s, mass was celebrated by Fr Gerry Horan OSA with the TY class of 2015/16 in St Monica’s Chapel. Work experience for all students began last Friday; Ms Sheehan wishes every success to her students with their work experience for the coming year.
Transition Year students enjoyed a fun day on a climbing wall supplied by Ardmore Adventures.

Megan won first prize in the West Waterford Festival of Food, “Design a Mascot “competition for her magnificent creation based on the theme of "Generations of Food Stories". Megan was assisted by Sarah Fitzgerald, Sophie Ryan & Emily Mulvihill in making the mascot. The judges were impressed with the use of recycled materials throughout the piece and the innovative design and construction. The "History Chef" was displayed at various locations around the town during the Festival of Food. Congratulations Megan and your team.
A group of Transition Year students enjoyed a four day trip to Krakow, Poland over the Easter break. Accompanied by Príomhoide Ailbhe Ní Neachtain, Mr Jim Power (Deputy Principal), Ms Nollaig Sheehan (TY Co-ordinator), Ms Shiovaun O’Sullivan and Fr Gerry Horan OSA, the group visited Auschwitz concentration camp where they met with a camp survivor. They also enjoyed a tour of the city of Krakow and the Wieliczka Salt Mine. Thanks to Ms Nollaig Sheehan who organised the trip.

Transition Year Certification Night
A large group of parents, students and were in attendance for this event. Príomhoide Ailbhe Ní Neachtain welcomed all to The Friary and complimented the students on a very successful year, most notably the group's hugely successful and entertaining production of "West Side Story". Ms Nollaig Sheehan, TY Co-ordinator also praised the students for their enthusiasm and commitment to the TY programme and then proceeded to announce the awards in the
various categories. Congratulations to all our prize winners.
With only a few weeks remaining for Transition Year students, co-ordinator Ms Nollaig Sheehan has a hectic schedule planned including an Interview Skills workshop, the County Final of Wheelchair Basketball, the Pieta House Darkness to Light Walk, YLP Gala night. Students will also be sitting their Food Hygiene exam. Lots to keep them busy until year end.
