St Augustine's 2- 09 Dungarvan CBS 1- 13. Our senior hurlers lost out to Dungarvan CBS in a hugely competitive Co. Semi-Final in Fraher field on Wednesday last. We got off to a great start when Eoin Kiely scored a goal from a 21 yd free and added a point soon after from another free. The CBS then took over scoring 8 points without reply which left us four behind at the break.
The Friary lads came out with much greater purpose in the second half and we took control of the game. We had good scores from John Elstead, Ruairi Conway, Sean Daly and Kiely again to bring us level before the CBS goaled to put them out in front again. We stuck to the task however and Joe Allan hit the net with a ground stroke from an impossible angle to level the game with just minutes remaining. It was not to be our day however and the CBS took the honours with a last minute free. Overall it was a good performance and the boys showed what they are capable of when fully focused on the task. Our focus now turns to the Munster Championship where we play Pallaskenery in the Munster semi-final in January.
