Friary Through To Munster Hurling Quarter Finals.

Senior Hurling

St Augustine's 3 12 St Brogan's, Bandon 2 07

Our senior hurlers came through a tough encounter with St Brogans from Bandon in Killeagh on Wednesday last. We started well and went ahead thanks to a Richard Forsey goal and points from Eoin Kiely and Sean Daly. We got a small bit sloppy after this however and the concession of two soft goals saw us go in three points down at the break.

The Bandon side opened the scoring with a point but from that point on we kept them to just one further score. We put in an extremely hard working performance in the second half as our half back line got on top and provided our forwards with better quality ball. Eoin Conway, Nicky O'Donovan and Conor Prunty in particular cleared their lines time and time again. We had further goals from John Elstead and another Forsey effort to put us well ahead and points from Daly and Cathal Curran to see us through to the next round after Christmas.

U14 Hurling

We had an extremely useful day out in Carriganore last week where we took part in the Co U14 blitz. We played Blackwater CS, De La Salle, St Pauls and Dungarvan CBS and the boys accounted themselves well in all the games. This was extremely good preparation for our upcoming Co championship but more importantly all the boys involved got loads of game time and enjoyed there day.

We would like to congratulate Ballinacourty on their progression to the Munster football semi-final. 14 of the team which started the county final were past pupils of the Friary as well as the majority of the panel and we wish them the best of luck in the remainder of the competition.
