Success In Rugby, The Harty Cup & Athletics

Dungarvan Colleges secured a second successive victory in the Harty Cup final in Seán Treacy Park, Tipperary yesterday. The team had a convincing win over Our Lady's College, Templemore. The Friary is very proud to be associated with this victorious team. Congratulations to all, well done!

Niamh Briggs Dazzles In Irish Ladies Triple Crown Victory

Past pupil Niamh Briggs was named as player of the match in the Irish Ladies victory over Scotland to secure for the Triple Crown for the Irish Ladies at Lasswade yesterday. Congratulations Niamh. We are all very proud of your achievements.

St. Augustine's College Junior Team "Aviva" Munster Championship

Gold, Silver and Bronze for St. Augustine's College athletes at the 2013 "Aviva" Munster Schools Cross Country Championships at the WIT Sports Campus, Carriganore, Waterford.

The Friary Junior Girls' continued where they left off in the East Munster Schools Cross Country when they won Gold at the "Aviva" Munster Schools Championships. St. Augustine's College Girls fittingly led home by their Captain Chloe Fennell 12th (West Waterford), and followed closely by Caoimhe Dwyer 15th (West Waterford), Dairini Ni Sheanlaoich 16th (West Waterford), Bronagh Condon 26th (West Waterford), Rachel McGuickian 44th (unattached), Atlanta Raher 56th (unattached). The team, like all well coached cross country sides packed very well again. This success can be contributed to Tony Shalloe and the coaching team at West Waterford Athletic Club.

St. Augustine's College, Intermediate girls finished in the silver medal position. Sinead Flynn 5th (West Waterford), Megan Dunford 13th (unattached), and Sarah Wyley 26th (West Waterford). The Friary Minor Girls' were just out of the medals in 4th team place; finishing as follows: Emma Hallahan 4th (West Waterford), Rahel Wyley 10th (West Waterford), Aine Flynn 52nd (West Waterford), Laina O'Hara 53rd (unattached), and Eileen Veale 54th (An Ghaeltacht/Ardmore).

The Bronze was won by the Friary Boys' Junior Team; Micheál Power 4th (West Waterford), Darragh McGrath 17th (unattached), Adam Clarke 31st (West Waterford), Ryan O'Neill 49th (unattached), Mark Twomey 50th (unattached), and Oisin O'Mahony 55th (West Waterford). The Friary Minor Boys 'Team finished in 5th place; Mick Devine 12th (unattached), Aidan McKenna 15th (West Waterford), David Montgomery 46th (unattached), and Seadhna Mac Goilla Chuda 49th (unattached).
