Principal Letter & Christmas Holidays 2021

(PDF Copy of Letter)

13/12/2021
Dear Parents/Guardians,

I hope this message finds you and your family well.

I would like to commend the excellent effort that has been made by all our students/parents/guardians this academic term. I would also like to thanks the staff of St Augustine’s for their hard work this term. I am sure you are all looking forward to
the Christmas Break.

Our schedule for break up for Christmas is as follows. Classes will finish for

  •   Ty on Wednesday 15th at 3.55pm

  •   1st year, 2nd year and 5th year on Tuesday 21th at 3.55pm

  •   3rd year and 6th year on Wed 22nd at 1.15pm

At present, we are hopeful that the Christmas holiday period and school re-opening in January is on track. However, I think it would be prudent to plan for all possible eventualities before we close for the Christmas holidays. I would like to ask each student and parent/guardian to carefully read the information below this week before the Christmas break.

  1. It would be advisable that students take home their school books and copies before Christmas, to be prepared in the unlikely event of a delayed return to school in January ( as happened last year).

  2. Please check the School App regularly for updates and ensure your notifications are switched on. We will be using the School APP during the holiday period should we need to make contact with you.

  3. Christmas Assessments will be uploaded onto E-portal by each subject teacher when the assessment has been corrected. I would ask parents/guardians to be patient and to please allow sufficient time for each subject teacher to correct assessments. Click here for E-Portal Link.

Social Media/Student Wellbeing

It is advisable to be aware of your child’s mobile phone/social media use and monitor regularly. It is important to remain vigilant as parents/guardians to ensure there is no in-appropriate material being received by them or being distributed. Technology is growing at a fast pace and it is important that parents/guardians embrace it, and also talk to your son/daughter about acting responsibly on devices. This includes pictures, videos, Snapchat, WhatsApp, TicToc, X-Box and all other social media app /forums. Helpful guidance and tips can be found on the webwise website. There are two links in particular that may be of interest to parents/guardians. (Mananging the risks of mobile phones). (Parental Control on all Devices) .

Many thanks for your ongoing commitment and support. If you have any queries or concerns or if we can be of any help or support to you please contact the school.

Kind regards,

Michael O’Sullivan (Principal)

Return to School Update

Dear Parents/Guardians and Students,

I trust you are keeping well in these ever challenging times. We are working hard to get school ready for a safe reopening. Our COVID 19 response plan is being finalised and will be published towards the end of next week. There will be a lot of communication from me with further clarification regarding school reopening over the coming weeks, so please ensure that you keep an eye the school app and website. Please bear with us as I am sure you understand that this cannot and should not be rushed. Our plan is to open and remain open. In the meantime please prepare for school as normal eg books, uniform, stationary etc With regard to face covering/masks. Students will be supplied with these on their respective return to school dates.

Kind regards,

Michael O Sullivan (Principal)
