This is a new venture for us in school and we value and appreciate your patience, commitment and working with us.

Return to School - Thurs, January 6th

04/01/2022
Dear Parents/Guardians/Students,

I hope this letter finds you and your family well. I hope you had a pleasant Christmas and New Year. I would like to welcome all our students and staff back to St. Augustine’s College on Thursday the 6th of January.
Our return to school will not be without challenges. There will be student and teacher absences due to contracting Covid or from being a close contact or family member. We will do our best to keep the school safe, open and classes running but please understand the difficulties involved at this time for everyone. We must get through this together.

Could all parents/guardians please ensure that you read the information below with your son/daughter before they return to school.

  1. In line with HSE and Dept of Education Guidelines all students are required to wear a mask in school and follow all instructions as issued with regard to Covid 19.

  2. Drop of point for students is by the bus shelter outside the school grounds. Please do not drive on to school grounds.

Ahead of returning to school it is very important that all students submit the return to school declaration form.
This is available on the school app and I would ask that you complete and submit now. However if unable to access school app then print off a paper version from link below.

Please print it off and complete and bring it with you on the first day of school.

***Please note that there is no school on Tuesday the 11th of January due to Department of education cluster based in-service training for all teachers. This date was chosen by the Department of Education and is not in our control.***

Covid-19 Return to School.

All covid-19 return to school documentation is on the school website. It is very important that all our students adhere to national guidelines, policies and procedures. https://www.staugustines.ie/covid-19.

Principal Letter & Christmas Holidays 2021

(PDF Copy of Letter)

13/12/2021
Dear Parents/Guardians,

I hope this message finds you and your family well.

I would like to commend the excellent effort that has been made by all our students/parents/guardians this academic term. I would also like to thanks the staff of St Augustine’s for their hard work this term. I am sure you are all looking forward to
the Christmas Break.

Our schedule for break up for Christmas is as follows. Classes will finish for

  •   Ty on Wednesday 15th at 3.55pm

  •   1st year, 2nd year and 5th year on Tuesday 21th at 3.55pm

  •   3rd year and 6th year on Wed 22nd at 1.15pm

At present, we are hopeful that the Christmas holiday period and school re-opening in January is on track. However, I think it would be prudent to plan for all possible eventualities before we close for the Christmas holidays. I would like to ask each student and parent/guardian to carefully read the information below this week before the Christmas break.

  1. It would be advisable that students take home their school books and copies before Christmas, to be prepared in the unlikely event of a delayed return to school in January ( as happened last year).

  2. Please check the School App regularly for updates and ensure your notifications are switched on. We will be using the School APP during the holiday period should we need to make contact with you.

  3. Christmas Assessments will be uploaded onto E-portal by each subject teacher when the assessment has been corrected. I would ask parents/guardians to be patient and to please allow sufficient time for each subject teacher to correct assessments. Click here for E-Portal Link.

Social Media/Student Wellbeing

It is advisable to be aware of your child’s mobile phone/social media use and monitor regularly. It is important to remain vigilant as parents/guardians to ensure there is no in-appropriate material being received by them or being distributed. Technology is growing at a fast pace and it is important that parents/guardians embrace it, and also talk to your son/daughter about acting responsibly on devices. This includes pictures, videos, Snapchat, WhatsApp, TicToc, X-Box and all other social media app /forums. Helpful guidance and tips can be found on the webwise website. There are two links in particular that may be of interest to parents/guardians. (Mananging the risks of mobile phones). (Parental Control on all Devices) .

Many thanks for your ongoing commitment and support. If you have any queries or concerns or if we can be of any help or support to you please contact the school.

Kind regards,

Michael O’Sullivan (Principal)
