The conference for ES teachers took place last weekend in Dublin and was attended by delegates from nineteen countries from right across the EU.
Our students were invited to do a presentation about their trip to Strasbourg in January. Jodi Walker, Megan O'Connor, Siun Morrissey and Sarah Keohan volunteered to represent the group and travelled to Dublin early on the Saturday morning to give the presentation.
It was a daunting task as the girls had to address the full group of over one hundred teachers from all corners of Europe but the girls did themselves and their school proud. Anne McEvoy of the European Parliament's Dublin office introduced the girls to the conference. Sarah spoke about how they won the trip and gave valuable advice for teachers who wished to enter their students for similar prizes. Jodi and Megan described the trip to the European Parliament, outlining the events of the day and the challenges they faced, while Siun filled in the audience on their interesting walking tour of historic Strasbourg and of course the shopping they enjoyed. Following the presentation the girls took questions from the audience and dealt with these admirably. They were given a sustained round of applause from all present who were hugely impressed by their confident and informative presentation.
Thanks must go to all four girls who gave up their Saturday to represent St. Augustine's College at this conference. Theirs was the only student presentation of the conference and they really did a wonderful job. Thanks also to Valerie Morrissey who also gave up her Saturday to drive all four girls to Dublin. Congratulations and well done to all.
