A chara,
The State Examinations Commission (SEC) is responsible for the administration, assessment and certification of the state certificate examinations, including the Leaving Certificate Gaeilge and Modern Foreign Languages Oral examinations. Since 2022, these examinations have taken place over the Easter holidays.
The SEC are seeking to conduct a more extensive evaluation of the changed delivery timeline with all stakeholders to fully assess the impact of holding the oral examinations at Easter in future years.
The School of Education, at the University of Galway is conducting research on their behalf to enquire into views of the timing of these oral examinations.
The research aims to capture the views of teachers, school managements, as well as candidates, parents/guardians. We are asking schools to distribute the survey link below to students, parents and teachers of Senior Cycle students including those who may have left school in the previous two years.
This research will help to inform advice to be provided to the Minister for Education on the timing of these examinations in 2024 and beyond. Take the survey by clicking the link below to share your views.
