Superschools 2014

In the early hours of Sunday morning on the 4th of May, the Friary Superschools team left Dungarvan and set for Uppsala near Stockholm in Sweden. The team comprised of twenty students, ten male and ten female. The students competed in various events over the four days against six schools from other countries. The other countries represented at the multisport event included Wales, England, France, Sweden and Finland. The events consisted of table tennis and badminton on day one. On the second day the group travelled into the nearby town of Uppsala and competed in athletics at the local track and rounded the day up at the swimming pool for the gala portion of the event. On the third day the students contested in both basketball and soccer tournaments. The students excelled in all areas of the competition in its entirety but dominated in the net games on the first day and showed their prowess both on the track and in the water on the second day in particular. The team games on the fourth day were tight and all placing were hotly contested. All the Friary students participated in these games and all students really did themselves and their school proud. Fortunately, thanks to the excellent training and dedication of both students and coaches who put serious effort into the team over the past numerous months, the team not only placed in every single event but also won the competition overall. This is a magnificent achievement as they how now achieved this feet for four successive years. Hearty congratulations to all involved!
